Commercial Director - ConstructionPermanent | West Yorkshire£80,000-£110,000 + Executive Package + Car / AllowanceAre you a strategic, commercially focused leader with a proven track record within the construction sector?A major construction contractor headquartered in West Yorkshire is seeking a Commercial Director to lead their commercial operations across a diverse portfolio of projects.This senior appointment offers the opportunity to influence business strategy, drive commercial performance, and play a key role in the growth and direction of the company.The RoleAs Commercial Director, you will be responsible for shaping and overseeing all commercial functions within the business. Working as part of the senior leadership team, you will ensure the effective management of budgets, risk, forecasting, procurement, and contractual compliance across multiple operational divisions.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic commercial leadership across a large, multi-disciplinary construction businessLead, mentor, and develop the commercial team including Commercial Managers and QS staffOversee financial performance, project forecasting, CVRs, risk management, and commercial reportingEnsure compliance with contractual obligations (JCT/NEC) and company governance structuresLead high-level negotiations with clients, consultants, and supply chain partnersOversee procurement strategy and ensure robust cost control across all projectsWork closely with the Board, Operations, and Pre-Construction on bids, tenders, and business planningDrive continuous improvement across commercial processes, systems, and reportingInfluence business strategy, margin improvement, and long-term commercial stabilityRepresent the business at senior client meetings and industry forumsAbout YouExtensive senior commercial experience within the construction industry (Commercial Manager, Senior QS, or existing Commercial Director level)Strong understanding of commercial management across a variety of construction projectsProven track record of leading high-performing commercial teamsDeep contractual knowledge, particularly JCT and NECHighly analytical, financially astute, and confident in board-level decision-makingStrong communicator able to build relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholdersForward-thinking leader able to drive change, performance, and commercial disciplineWhat's on OfferCompetitive salary £80,000-£110,000, depending on experienceExecutive package including car/allowance, bonus, and enhanced benefitsSenior leadership role with influence over strategy and long-term business directionOpportunity to join a large, well-established construction organisation with a strong pipelineSupportive board culture with scope to implement new commercial processes and improvementsWhat you need to do nowIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.
