This role is crucial for managing the company's ledger, ensuring timely payment of outstanding invoices, minimising bad debt risk, and maintaining healthy cash flow. It involves a blend of financial analysis, customer service, and administrative duties within the finance department. Day-to-day of the role: Take ownership of overdue accounts by initiating consistent follow-ups and maintaining open lines of communication with clients to encourage timely resolution. Engage in direct negotiations with customers to establish mutually agreeable repayment arrangements, clearly outlining terms and expectations. Conduct thorough reconciliations of complex financial records to ensure the accuracy of the sales ledger and maintain data integrity. Address client inquiries swiftly, whether received via voicemail or written correspondence, ensuring a professional and helpful response. Promote adherence to internal credit policies and external collection procedures across both the team and client base. Where necessary, escalate unresolved debts through legal channels in accordance with company guidelines and contractual obligations. Distribute monthly account summaries to clients and update internal systems to reflect any changes or corrections. Compile and deliver weekly updates to senior management detailing the status of outstanding debts and recovery progress. Identify early signs of payment issues and escalate appropriately to reduce risk and prevent potential losses. Provide ad hoc support to the finance department, contributing to team goals and operational efficiency. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with accounting/ERP software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong negotiation and influencing skills. Problem-solving, time management, patience, determination, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Ability to thrive under pressure and adhere to constant and challenging deadlines. Previous experience in a credit control or accounts receivable environment required. Qualifications in finance, accounting, or business is beneficial. Basic knowledge of Accounting Software's. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to accomplish team goals.
