Location: Port of Grangemouth
Hours: Monday-Thursday 0900-1700, Friday 0900-1600 with additional requirement to be on-call
Compensation: Salary - £30,000 + call-out allowance £3,764

About The Role
As IT Support Engineer, you will provide first- and second-line technical support to end-users, maintain IT systems, and ensure smooth operation of hardware, software, and network infrastructure across Scottish Ports. This role will support IT projects, assist with deployment of new technologies, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of IT services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as the first point of contact for IT-related queries via phone, email, and ticketing system, logging and tracking support tickets to ensure timely resolution.
* Diagnose and resolve common hardware, software, and network issues.
* Provide support for Active Directory, Microsoft 365 applications, Windows operating systems, and company software.
* Assist users with account setups, password resets, and access requests.
* Liaise with external suppliers to order and receive equipment or replacement parts as required.
* Handle first-line ticket escalations, diagnosing and resolving before escalating to third-line support when necessary.
* Assist in deploying new IT equipment, including laptops, desktops, and mobile devices.
* Support network maintenance tasks such as patching, connectivity troubleshooting, and Wi-Fi support.
* Participate in cybersecurity initiatives, including system updates and vulnerability checks.
* Ensure compliance with IT policies, data protection, and cybersecurity standards.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a proactive IT Support Engineer with strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to IT support. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in helpdesk and system administration, with practical knowledge of Active Directory, Office 365, and networking fundamentals. Excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, and a collaborative mindset are essential to support both day-to-day IT needs and larger infrastructure projects. A flexible approach to work, willingness to join the call-out rota, and a full UK driving licence are also required.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Qualified to HND/Degree level in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
* Proven experience in IT support, helpdesk and system administration.
* Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Office 365, and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls)
* Experience in scoping out and planning the installation of new technologies and delivering IT projects.
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage across all levels of the business.
* Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
* Full right to work in the UK
* Full UK driving licence
