SALARY: £25,282 to £28,861 per annum FTE (£15,169 to £17,316 Actual) + Benefits
LOCATION: West Bromwich base but will cover the Black Country area

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Pathfinder Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to play a vital role within the Family Court Pathfinder Programme, supporting victim/survivors and their children through complex court proceedings.
As an Pathfinder Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) you will act as the key point of contact for families navigating the Family Court, ensuring they are informed, prepared and supported, while championing safety, dignity and informed decision-making.
The Pathfinder Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will work collaboratively with partner agencies including court professionals and safeguarding services, contributing expert insight into domestic abuse dynamics and child impact.
This role suits someone with a strong safeguarding background, excellent advocacy skills and a commitment to trauma-informed, survivor-centred practice.
DUTIES
Your duties as the Pathfinder Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) include:
Victim Advocacy and Support: Acting as the main point of contact for victim/survivors and their children throughout the Family Court process
Risk Assessment and Safety Planning: Completing DASH and related assessments and developing robust safety plans
Court Preparation and Attendance: Supporting service users to understand court processes and attend hearings safely
Multi-Agency Working: Working closely with CAFCASS, court staff and partner agencies to share information and manage risk
Specialist Reporting: Preparing detailed written reports including child impact and safeguarding documentation
Safeguarding Practice: Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns involving adults and children
Post-Court Support: Providing follow-up support and guidance following court decisions and orders
Case Management: Maintaining accurate records and managing a complex caseload in line with policy and procedure
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
Previous experience working within domestic abuse, sexual violence or safeguarding services
Experience supporting vulnerable adults and children using trauma-informed approaches
Proven ability to complete risk assessments, safety planning and crisis intervention
Experience of multi-agency working and professional advocacy
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
Ability to manage a varied caseload and work to agreed timescales
Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
Eligibility to work in the UK
DESIRABLE
IDVA qualification or equivalent specialist training
Experience working within court or criminal justice settings
Experience of supporting staff, volunteers or students
Knowledge of Family Court procedures and child safeguarding frameworks
