To become a Lecturer in our Automotive department, we need someone who is enthusiastic, organised and has a passion for teaching.
The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new skills and develop their abilities in a wide range of activities.

Although this position is based at our Bromsgrove and Worcester campuses, all applicants must be prepared to travel to our other campuses or surrounding areas as required.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.
- Set clear objectives and prepare suitable resources, assessing against criteria and supporting student progress.
- Deliver engaging lessons with effective classroom management.
- Participate in observations, reviews (e.g. SAR), and team meetings.
- Track student progress with accurate, up-to-date records.
- Mark work promptly and give feedback.
- Maintain registers, enrolments, and records.
- Act as a tutor and refer students to support services when needed.
- Ensure safe working practices and complete risk assessments.
- Follow college policies and undertake additional duties as required.
Key Roles and Accountabilities
Planning and preparation
- Produce and maintain schemes of work and outlines of work.
- Prepare lesson plans with clear aims.
- Prepare appropriate resources.
Delivery
- Deliver effective programmes of learning, through efficient classroom management.
- Promote learning in a stimulating context.
- Ensure all classroom activities are conducted in a safe manner with appropriate use of safety equipment/clothing.
- Use of information Learning Technology (ILT) where appropriate.
- Consult and liaise with other members of the course team to ensure effective delivery of the agreed subject area.
Quality
- Participate in the College Lesson Observation Scheme.
- Contribute to SAR and other quality related activities.
- Assist with the production of course evaluation and review induction sessions.
- Attend at least three course team meetings per annum.
- Fully participate in course team activities.
Monitoring
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records in line with college procedures and appropriate standards.
Assessment and verification
- Marking students’ work in a timely manner and providing feedback to learners.
- Advising students on targets, progress and individual learning plans.
- Operating to agreed marking schemes.
- Setting and assessing work of the students in relation to curriculum criteria and providing opportunities for student feedback.
- Act as an assessor where necessary.
- Act as an internal verifier if appropriate.
Associated administrative duties
- Ensure that students are enrolled.
- Maintain accurate and up to date registers.
- Make appropriate referrals to college services.
- Identify and report non-attendances.
- Refer matters to the CRQ Leader or CRQ Manager.
- Register students for external awards, if appropriate, under the supervision of the CRQ Leader or CRQ Manager.
- Ensure that all work is marked and appropriate feedback given within set times.
Curriculum and other development
- Undertake subject specific updating and development in order to be able to teach in the curriculum area.
- Undertake other development in liaison with the CRQ Leader or CRQ Manager.
- Undertake curriculum updating in line with awarding body requirements.
- Provide a general contribution to the curriculum development process.
- Attend and participate in course team, programme area and College meetings as required.
- Attend conferences, courses and meetings to update expertise and knowledge.
Student support
- Act as a personal tutor for a group of students.
- Support students in Functional skills (inexperienced staff will be given training and support).
- Refer students to the Student Welfare or Career Guidance Team as appropriate.
- Liaise with Personal Tutors or other staff on student issues that may need further investigation or action.
Health and Safety
- Take responsibility for the safe conduct of work within your own work area, including the completion of risk assessments as and when necessary.
Safeguarding
- Undertake the duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Additional duties may be assigned as required, including evening and Saturday working and covering for absent colleagues.

Salary and Conditions of Service
Salary range: £26,687 – £30,753 per annum for unqualified Lecturers and £31,503 – £41,413 per annum for qualified Lecturers. Salary will increase within the band upon successful completion of probationary period, with increments in August.
Teaching qualification: Applicants must hold an appropriate teaching qualification or be willing to undertake and gain the Certificate in Education and Training within 2 years of appointment.
Minimum mathematics and English: All staff must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in both English and Maths. If you do not possess this, you will be expected to obtain it during employment.
Checks: All successful applicants will undergo an Enhanced DBS check and must provide two references, one of which must be the applicant’s current or most recent employer.
Hours of work: 37 hours per week, actual hours agreed with manager.
Location: Based at Bromsgrove and Worcester campuses, may be required at other locations.
