Senior Project Engineer – Capital Projects

Join a global contract development and manufacturing organisation supporting high-value pharmaceutical products. This position offers the opportunity to lead technically challenging and rewarding capital projects at a regulated manufacturing facility, with occasional responsibilities at other locations.
As Senior Project Engineer, you will take responsibility for providing safe and compliant delivery of assigned capital projects, on time, within budget and to the agreed scope. You will lead projects at your assigned manufacturing site and, by exception, at other sites as appropriate, driven by the project portfolio.
In this role, you will utilise your knowledge of technical, product, and market information to understand the project scope, expectations, and requirements, and contribute to the development of project strategy.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Maintain an awareness of current and developing safety, health and environmental policies and procedures, and support coworkers as appropriate.
* Define and specify capital project scopes.
* Manage commissioning and validation lifecycle activities (e.g. FAT/SAT, URS, DQ, IQ/OQ).
* Form and coordinate cross-functional project teams.
* Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and business requirements.
* Establish sourcing strategy and drive vendor selection process.
* Generate and manage cost estimates and budgets.
* Develop and control project schedules.
* Establish and cultivate networks of support (internal and external) to facilitate completion of assignments and build technical knowledge.
* Interact with customers/clients to better understand relationships, processes, and applications.
* Contribute information to the technical strategic planning process.
* Assist in the development of other technical employees, contract workers, and technical aides as required.
Skills & Experience:
* 5+ years’ experience working on engineering projects.
* 3+ years’ experience in a regulated industry, e.g. pharmaceutical or food & beverage industry, is preferable.
* Degree-qualified in an engineering discipline.
* Chartered status (CEng) or working towards chartership is highly desirable.
* Proven leadership of capital projects in a manufacturing environment is essential.
* Possesses complex problem-solving skills.
* Sound knowledge of engineering design principles, procurement strategies, and construction methods.
* Previous experience of health & safety regulations, quality systems, and relevant industry standards.
* Strong project management skills with experience using tools like MS Project or similar.
* Financial experience in budgeting, cost control, and analysis is required.
