Job Description
Join WSP Land as a Land Consultant, supporting the delivery of land referencing, land access, landowner & stakeholder engagement, and statutory processes across major infrastructure projects in the UK and Ireland.
Responsibilities
* Support teams in the delivery of land referencing, land access, landowner & stakeholder engagement, optioneering and statutory processes.
* Identify landowners, occupiers and other parties that hold an interest in land through interpretation and research of land registry information.
* Liaise with landowners, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, stakeholders, contractors and clients.
* Work with multi‑disciplinary teams to secure access to land for surveys, whether by agreement or through statutory mechanisms.
* Contribute to WSP Land delivery and success of high‑profile infrastructure projects locally and across the UK and Ireland.
* Provide training and mentoring to junior colleagues, undertake technical assurance of other colleagues’ work and participate in the CPD‑accredited Land Academy.
* Maintain commercial awareness with an understanding of budget, scope, change control and other project management activities, including identification of project and data‑security risks.
* Represent the business at Land Consultant level on projects (client‑facing activities).
* Travel within the UK and Ireland and occasionally to WSP’s Global Capability Centre in India.
Qualifications
* Strong interest in delivering land services for clients, including land referencing, survey access, stakeholder and landowner engagement or statutory processes.
* Experience working as part of multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality outputs for clients.
* Effective communication and organisational skills with the ability to liaise at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to delegate and undertake technical assurance of other colleagues’ work.
* Drive and enthusiasm to create strong technical work.
* Willingness and ability to travel to various sites and locations.
* Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Teams and familiarity with GIS/mapping tools.
* When possible, specific skills in land identification, land ownership, land management, project management of infrastructure projects and stakeholder engagement.
* Knowledge of UK statutory consent requirements (e.g., hybrid Bills, TWAs, DCOs, CPOs, Vesting Orders) is an advantage but not essential.
* Experience with wayleave agreements is beneficial.
