Overview

Managing Violence & Aggression (MAV) Advisor

Help create safer, calmer environments for staff and service users. Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a committed and confident professional to join our Practical Training Unit as a Management of Violence and Aggression (MAV) Advisor. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on safety, confidence and quality of care across our services. In this role, you’ll deliver Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training across the Trust and provide specialist advice to clinical teams supporting individuals whose behaviours may be challenging. You’ll promote least restrictive practice, trauma‑informed approaches and effective de‑escalation, supporting teams to manage risk safely and compassionately.


What You’ll Bring

* Experience working in mental health, learning disability or a similar care setting
* Confidence supporting staff in challenging or high‑risk situations
* Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
* A calm, professional and compassionate approach

Candidates with a recognised teaching qualification will be appointed at Band 4. Applicants without a teaching qualification will be appointed at Band 3.

Responsibilities

* Deliver Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training consistently across Trust services, ensuring agreed learning outcomes are met
* Provide specialist advice and practical support to clinical teams promoting least restrictive and trauma‑informed approaches
* Coach, role‑model and support staff in de‑escalation and safe physical intervention techniques
* Adapt training delivery to meet individual learning needs, including reasonable adjustments
* Support post‑incident reviews, reflective practice and identification of learning
* Contribute to the development, review and delivery of PMVA training materials and packages
* Assess learner competence, fitness and capability, escalating concerns where required
* Maintain accurate training records and contribute to training evaluation in line with RRN standards
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues and subject matter experts
* Support bespoke in‑service training and clinical advice days across inpatient, community and home settings
