Job Overview North Bristol Trust is seeking a dynamic and experienced Clinical Lead to deliver the Every Minute Matters (EMM) programme — a Continuous Quality Improvement initiative focused on enhancing patient flow and discharge experiences across our hospital. Every Minute Matters (EMM) is the approach that North Bristol Trust are using to enhance hospital flow and patient recovery by refocusing on the processes that release time to care on inpatient wards. This will include among other things targeting timely discharges and reducing inpatient stays through collaborative team efforts and coaching. Main duties of the job As Clinical Lead, you will provide expert strategic and operational leadership to develop, embed, and sustain improvements using the Patient First methodology. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding patient care and ensure the Trust meets its targets for timely, efficient patient pathways. Key Responsibilities Detailed job description and main responsibilities Lead the EMM programme across North Bristol Trust, ensuring consistent embedding and sustainability of patient flow improvements. Provide clinical expertise to the Trust’s flow and discharge workstreams. Identify delays in patient pathways and lead targeted improvement projects through to delivery. Support wider urgent care and system-wide transformation programmes. Communicate effectively with senior leadership, clinical teams, and external stakeholders. Promote a culture of quality improvement and patient-centred care. Who We’re Looking For Registered Nurse, Midwife, or Allied Health Professional (NMC/HCPC registered). Significant clinical and operational management experience within a medium to large acute healthcare setting. Proven leadership experience with a track record of delivering clinical service improvements and managing complex change projects. Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional qualification (or working towards). Strong knowledge of NHS policies, patient flow, discharge processes, and quality improvement methodologies. Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills. Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and inspire staff engagement. Experience in data analysis, project management, and reporting at senior leadership levels.
