Shape the future of Cornwall & Devon’s most thoughtfully designed new homes
FutureGen Recruitment is proud to be partnering with our client – a design-led, forward-thinking SME housebuilder with an ambitious growth strategy and an excellent reputation for quality. Their developments range from boutique 40-home communities to landmark schemes of several hundred homes, and as they expand their footprint across Cornwall and Devon, they’re now looking to appoint two experienced Planners to drive their planning strategy forward.
The Role
Based in Cornwall and reporting directly to the Head of Planning, this is a key opportunity to take ownership of the entire planning process — from consultation through to securing consents. You’ll work closely with technical teams across planning, land and sales, lead planning strategy, manage external consultants, and build trusted relationships with key stakeholders and local authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and implement planning strategies across all development sites
* Manage pre-apps, planning submissions, appeals, and conditions
* Advise on site appraisals and acquisitions
* Engage with LPAs, stakeholders, communities and consultants
* Monitor changes in planning legislation and policy
* Represent our client at planning committees and public consultations
The Person
We’re looking for planning professionals who are confident, commercially astute, and passionate about creating high-quality places to live.
You will ideally have:
* A degree in Town Planning (or similar) – RTPI membership preferred
* Experience in both public and private sector planning
* A strong track record of securing residential planning consents
* Great stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* A pragmatic, solution-focused approach
* A full UK driving licence (you’ll be visiting sites across Devon & Cornwall)
It would be brilliant is you also had:
* Experience in land acquisition or planning software/GIS
* Strong local knowledge of Cornwall & Devon
* An existing network of regional planning contacts
What’s in it for you?
* A collaborative and entrepreneurial environment
* Real opportunities for long-term career growth
* A competitive salary and benefits package (including health insurance and bonus schemes)
