About the role:
We're seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance & Site Services / Facilities Group Leader to oversee all maintenance operations, statutory compliance, and facilities performance at our Wrexham site. In this hands‑on leadership role, you'll take full ownership of the site’s maintenance strategy, engineering delivery, facilities management, and compliance frameworks, ensuring the site remains safe, efficient, compliant, and fully aligned to business needs.
You'll lead a team of skilled technicians and contractors, combining strong technical expertise with effective team leadership to deliver planned and reactive maintenance to the highest standards. A key part of the role involves driving continuous improvement, enhancing equipment reliability, and ensuring maintenance and facilities activities support wider operational objectives. This position is ideally suited to someone with strong technical competence, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to influence, motivate, and develop a high‑performing team.
What does this role involve day to day?
Team Leadership & Management
1. Leading, coaching, and developing the maintenance, facilities, and site services teams
2. Managing daily workload allocation, team performance, and training requirements
3. Promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring active engagement in EHS initiatives
Maintenance & Engineering Delivery
4. Overseeing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise equipment reliability
5. Managing responses to breakdowns, prioritising actions to minimise downtime
6. Ensuring all maintenance work is carried out safely and meets quality and regulatory standards
Facilities & Site Services
7. Managing site infrastructure, including utilities, buildings, HVAC, water systems, and grounds
8. Ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (PUWER, LOLER, LEV, fire systems, environmental legislation, etc.)
9. Coordinating contractors and external providers, ensuring safe and high‑quality work in line with the JCB SheAssure programme
Continuous Improvement
10. Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and site performance
11. Driving lean principles and delivering cost‑effective maintenance and facilities improvements
12. Supporting capital projects and wider site development activity
Budgeting & Administration
13. Managing and forecasting maintenance and facilities budgets
14. Maintaining accurate documentation, compliance records, and audit‑ready systems
15. Reporting key performance indicators including downtime, PPM completion, response times, and utility usage
This will be suited to you if…
16. You have proven experience within maintenance, facilities, or engineering leadership roles
17. You bring a strong technical background (mechanical, electrical, or multi‑skilled)
18. You have an excellent understanding of health & safety legislation and maintenance compliance requirements
19. You are confident managing contractors and operating permit‑to‑work systems
20. You are highly organised with strong problem‑solving skills and a hands‑on approach
21. You communicate effectively and build strong cross‑functional relationships
22. You hold a qualification in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (desirable)
