Autism Support Assistant Location: Scarborough Salary: £88 – £110 per day Contract: Full-Time Start Date: January 2026 GSL Education are seeking a patient and skilled Autism Support Assistant to support pupils with autism within a specialist secondary provision in the Scarborough area. About the School This alternative provision supports pupils with autism who benefit from structured routines, predictable environments and consistent adult support. The focus is on communication, emotional regulation and developing independence. Autism Support Assistant Responsibilities Support pupils with autism on a 1:1 and small-group basis. Use structured, visual and sensory support strategies. Assist with transitions and emotional regulation. Support access to learning and daily routines. Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and keyworkers. Requirements Experience supporting autistic pupils or SEND learners. Understanding of autism-friendly approaches. Calm, consistent and nurturing manner. Strong observation and communication skills. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
