Teacher’s Pay Scale + TLR 2.1 (TLR Allowance £3,590)
Lead Practitioner of Humanities Faculty - West Monmouth School
Start date: January 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)
The Governing Body is seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic Lead Practitioner to join the leadership of the Humanities faculty. This Area of Learning and Experience has a solid strong track record in terms of pupil outcomes, is well resourced with a very experienced staff team and occupies a recently refurbished suite of classrooms. The Lead Practitioner role within our structure is a middle leadership post with a primary focus on the development of teaching and learning within faculties. Our LPs are tasked with driving pedagogical innovation across their faculties and the school more widely. They are therefore expected to be proactive in engaging with the latest educational research and in seeking out appropriate professional learning opportunities both internally and externally. We are looking for an outstanding teacher with a commitment to delivering the highest quality learning experiences to the pupils in their care; and the ability to motivate all pupils to succeed in Humanities. The successful candidate will also have the potential to become an inspirational leader who can motivate and support their team to embrace change successfully. Experience of teaching Humanities across the 11-16 age and ability range is essential and previous involvement in middle-leadership activity would also be advantageous, though not essential.
West Monmouth is an 11-16 mixed comprehensive school serving Pontypool and the surrounding area. The school has expanded very rapidly in recent years and currently has almost 1200 pupils on roll. We have an excellent reputation within our community for both academic results and pastoral care and many pupils from outside our traditional catchment area have chosen to join us in recent years.
All prospective candidates are encouraged to view the school website.
Shortlisting will take place on week commencing 24th November, 2025
