Job Overview
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a band 6 Clinical Educator to join the current team on CTCCU.
In collaboration with the Practice Development Nurse (PDN), you will coordinate, plan and deliver the critical care foundation programme and other education programmes.
The post holder will facilitate the development of clinical staff in assessing the needs for all patients, ensuring that planned care is appropriate, implemented and evaluated. The post holder will act as an effective clinical leader and role model to enhance clinical competence and improve fundamentals of care within Cardiothoracic Critical Care.
Main Duties
In conjunction with the education team, develop, deliver and evaluate educational programmes for new and existing nursing staff and nursing assistants within Cardiothoracic Critical Care. You will be integral in promoting an environment that encourages learning and sustains the personal and professional development of staff. In collaboration with the PDN, coordinate the supervision, assessment and development of clinical skills of the nursing team.
Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible as part of a team for the delivery of education to new and current staff on the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit, including clinical teaching and formal teaching on the collaborative critical care foundation programme.
Person Specification
* Two years experience within a critical care environment at band 5
* Possession of a Critical Care Course at level 6 or level 7
* Possession of a mentoring qualification or Practice Assessor Supervisor qualification
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Postgraduate Certificate in Practice Education
