Job Description:
About us There is an exciting opportunity to join Salford City Council's expanding Regulatory Services team. Regulatory Services cover Private Sector Housing, Environmental Protection, Trading Standards, and Environmental Health. The position available is full-time, fixed-term for 18 months, primarily within Private Sector Housing.
The private sector housing areas include landlord licensing, housing standards, compliance, enforcement, empty properties, and home improvement assistance. The role will initially focus on disrepair complaints related to private rented, empty, and owner-occupied properties. It will also involve broader private sector housing functions across the city to address poor housing conditions.
About the Role The successful candidates will work in an enforcement team implementing and enforcing mainly the Housing Act 2004. Knowledge of this Act and its application is essential, and familiarity with the Renters' Rights Bill would be advantageous. Competency in HHSRS is required; qualification is desirable.
Responsibilities include liaising with landlords, owners, and residents, inspecting properties using HHSRS, and taking enforcement action where necessary. You will need to adopt a flexible, problem-solving approach to deliver quick and sustainable resolutions to housing issues, managing a caseload involving investigations, on-site visits, enforcement, and partnership working.
What we need from you Candidates should demonstrate a non-discriminatory, investigative mindset, experience in case management, and a commitment to multi-agency partnership work. If you are driven to improve housing quality and residents' lives in Salford, we look forward to your application.
For inquiries or informal discussions, contact: Caren Green, [emailprotected]
Note: We will not accept candidates requiring sponsorship. The role requires a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, costing £21.50, payable in four installments of £5.38. If you do not start employment, you will be invoiced for the DBS fee.
