Overview
We are a leading master property developer, working with our Partners to create beautiful, sustainable and community focused places where housebuilders want to build, and people want to live.
The Role
This role sits at the heart of Urban&Civic’s commitment to creating safe, well-managed, and thriving places. Working closely with the Head of Health and Safety, you’ll play a key part in shaping how health and safety is embedded across our projects and within the culture of the business.
You’ll be involved in everything from on-site inspections and data analysis to developing new systems and training programmes that help our teams, contractors, and partners work smarter and safer. It’s a mix of strategy, collaboration, and practical action with plenty of opportunities to influence how health and safety is understood and applied across large, complex development projects.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the Head of Health and Safety to promote a positive health and safety culture across the company and with our contractors, partners, and housebuilders.
* Carrying out inspections of strategic sites and directly employed contractors, following the company’s inspection framework.
* Reviewing and analysing inspection data to identify trends and practical improvements.
* Working with external consultants and project teams to implement, audit, and communicate follow-up actions.
* Providing expert advice to internal project management teams and contributing to consortium meetings.
* Supporting our office leads with statutory inspections and compliance.
* Producing clear, engaging health and safety bulletins for key stakeholders.
* Leading or assisting with accident investigations and developing learning from incidents.
* Assisting in developing and delivering health and safety training programmes for teams across the business.
* Keeping your knowledge up to date and helping to identify legislative updates or strategic risks.
* Assisting with the development of new policies, guidance, and templates when required.
What We’re Looking For
* Member of a relevant professional body (IOSH, APS).
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate (essential); NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (desirable).
* At least 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role within construction or a related field.
* Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and a working understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022.
* A good grasp of current health and safety legislation and how it applies in practice.
* Skilled in analysing data and producing focused, accurate reports.
* Confident communicator, able to build trust and work collaboratively across teams and organisations.
* Experience in audits and performance monitoring.
This role would suit someone who enjoys balancing the technical side of health and safety with people-focused, forward-thinking work. If you’re motivated by improving standards, supporting teams, and helping shape safer, better places, we’d love to hear from you.
