Sendsory Location: Hillside, Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14 2BD Salary: £39,000 per annum (pro rata), Actual salary £24,000 for January - August Hours: 40 hours per week (8.00 am - 4.00 pm, plus 2.5 hours remote working), Term time only Contract: Fixed Term for 8 Months until 31 August 2026, with possibility of extension into 2026/27 academic year Reference: 0510 As a SEND Teacher at Sendsory, you will support children with SEND to regulate their emotions, develop communication and social skills, and engage positively with learning. Your role will involve delivering our Therapeutic Curriculum, working closely with a small, dedicated team, and providing personalised, hands-on support to help each child thrive in a nurturing and structured environment. Your responsibilities You will lead the delivery of engaging, child-centred sessions using the GROW & THRIVE curriculum, ensuring each activity supports the holistic development of every child. A key part of your role will be implementing Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes within these sessions, tailoring learning experiences to meet individual needs. You will also take responsibility for accurate record-keeping and progress monitoring, including: Logging attendance for all children during each session. Recording daily observations via the Sendsory app. Completing regular records of progress against EHCP outcomes and ensuring these are finalised by the end of each half term. Assessing engagement and marking off completed outcomes for AQA Unit Award Scheme Certificates, ensuring evidence is completed weekly and finalised each half term. Leadership and safeguarding are central to this role. You will manage and delegate responsibilities to a small team of SEND Teaching Assistants, ensuring smooth session delivery. As the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), you will oversee all safeguarding aspects within the organisation, including reporting concerns promptly and appropriately. Other key responsibilities include: Attending and contributing to child reviews held half-termly, discussing progress against curriculum and EHCP outcomes. Providing personal care for children as required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times. Setting up and tidying the therapeutic space before and after each session to create a safe, welcoming environment. Supporting children during breakfast and lunch times, encouraging independence and social interaction. Preparing, reviewing, and updating risk assessments for community activities and hub spaces. Finally, you will ensure weekly learning outcomes within the GROW & THRIVE curriculum are completed by Friday each week, maintaining high standards of delivery and documentation. What you will need Experience working with children with complex SEND including Trauma. QTS is preferred, but applications from unqualified teachers are also welcome. Experience delivering a tailored curriculum in a therapeutic or alternative setting. Strong understanding of Trauma Informed Practice. Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, or Talk Pads.
