NG Bailey is proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset. This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero‑carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey, the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, is part of the MEH Alliance, a joint venture delivering the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project.
We have a new vacancy for a Quality Engineer to support the Discipline Quality Managers in ensuring that all aspects of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) are implemented effectively throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Key Deliverables
* Quality Management System (QMS) Development: Collaborating with QA Area Leads, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive QMS tailored to the specific requirements of the nuclear new build project.
* Procedure Development and Review: Creating, reviewing, QA/QC procedures, work instructions and quality plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards and project specifications.
* Quality Audits and Inspections: Conducting regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with QA/QC requirements, identifying non‑conformances, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
* Life Time Quality Records: Overseeing documentation to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date records for regulatory compliance and project traceability.
* Risk Management: Identifying potential quality risks and hazards, conducting risk assessments and implementing risk mitigation measures to prevent quality issues and ensure safety and reliability.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all applicable nuclear regulatory requirements, codes, standards and licensing conditions related to QA/QC activities.
* Training and Development: Providing training and guidance to project personnel, contractors and subcontractors on QA/QC procedures, standards and requirements to promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement.
* Root Cause Analysis: Investigating and analysing root causes of quality issues or failures using techniques such as RCA to identify underlying problems and implement corrective actions.
* Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) related to QA/QC activities, preparing regular progress reports, and communicating with project management about QA status, issues and recommendations for improvement.
* Inspection and Test Plans: Responsible for development of ITPs to meet construction schedule requirements.
* Foreign Material Exclusion (CFME): Championing the exclusion of foreign material to prevent ingress or entrapment of non‑specified materials, loose items or debris in equipment and/or systems during assembly and testing.
* Non‑Conformance: Issuing NCRs where required and facilitating continuation or closure of internal and client‑issued NCRs; maintaining NCR/CAR Lessons Learned logs.
What we’re looking for
* Prior experience in a quality position within the engineering industry and suitable electrical qualifications (HNC/HND or trade qualifications).
* Experience working within a regulated industry and on large‑scale projects is beneficial.
* Holding an Internal Auditor qualification would be advantageous.
