The Role
The Materials Handler plays a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials throughout the business, from receipt of goods through to the dispatch of finished products to customers.
Working closely with Purchasing, Production and Quality teams, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, controlling inventory movements and ensuring customer orders are dispatched correctly and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Goods Inwards
* Receive and process incoming materials and components.
* Check deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
* Conduct initial visual inspections of incoming goods.
* Accurately record delivery information within the company ERP system.
* Allocate and store materials in the correct locations.
* Report any discrepancies, shortages or damaged items.
Stock Control
* Maintain accurate stock records and inventory levels.
* Issue materials and components to production as required.
* Assist with stock counts and inventory audits.
* Ensure materials are stored safely and efficiently.
Dispatch
* Pick and prepare customer orders in accordance with dispatch documentation.
* Verify quantities, documentation and packaging requirements.
* Arrange shipments using approved courier and freight providers.
General Duties
* Liaise with Purchasing, Production and Qualit Managers regarding material availability and stock movements.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
* Support continuous improvement activities within the department.
* Undertake occasional van driving duties for collections and deliveries.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Good computer literacy and data entry skills.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work accurately and methodically.
* Good communication skills and ability to work across multiple departments.
* Reliable, flexible and proactive approach to work.
Desirable
* Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence.
* Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, warehouse or stores environment.
* Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
* Knowledge of stock control and inventory management processes.
