An exciting opportunity has arisen to cover a secondment on a 1-year fixed-term contract within the Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) Safeguarding Children Team.

As part of the Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) Safeguarding Children Team, you will promote high standards of safeguarding children work throughout HCT to improve outcomes for children and young people. You will work in partnership with other organizations and offer support, training, and high-quality supervision to designated staff groups. Additionally, you will be part of the Joint Agency Response Rota for unexpected child deaths.


Main duties of the job

* Provide specialist safeguarding children advice and supervisory support to HCT staff, including child protection supervision to health visitors, school nurses, and allied health professionals. Promote reflective practice and self-questioning.
* Participate in the Joint Agency Response for Unexpected Child Deaths in Hertfordshire.
* Be part of the safeguarding children duty rota, offering support and guidance to HCT staff regarding safeguarding concerns.
* Ensure effective communication and a cohesive approach across the organization to safeguard children.
* Contribute to and facilitate safeguarding children training within HCT and multi-agency settings. Monitor systems to audit training needs and evaluate outcomes.
* Support legal and records requests, including aiding HCT staff in developing court statements and CAFCASS reports.
* Research cases for Hertfordshire MARAC and MACE and represent HCT at MARAC meetings.

Person Specification


Qualifications and Training

* First Level Registered Nurse with evidence of further training to degree level
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Post-registration training such as Masters level qualifications relevant to safeguarding or equivalent experience, with willingness to undertake further training
* Teaching qualification
* Supervisory qualification or equivalent
* Qualifications relevant to safeguarding
* Advanced knowledge of key legislation and safeguarding frameworks


Experience and Knowledge

* Experience working with families, children, and young people
* Clinical safeguarding children experience
* Participation in multi-agency groups and networks
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Experience as a clinical supervisor
* Delivery of safeguarding training to health staff and multi-agency training
* Understanding of court procedures

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This role requires a DBS check due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

Salary: £47,810 to £54,710 per annum, pro-rata
