Overview
CGL’s Prison Drug and Alcohol Recovery service (DARS) provides evidence-based interventions for those experiencing difficulties with drugs and/or alcohol, enabling individuals to recover and live with focus on independence. The DARS service partners with commissioners, Prison Health partners and prison establishments to achieve the best outcomes for the men in our care. An opportunity has arisen to recruit a proactive, determined and resourceful Recovery Support Worker for a permanent post. The post holder will work closely with the DARS and management team alongside Spectrum community health to deliver an effective and innovative service. The role requires establishing strong working relationships with key stakeholders and providers within the prison establishment to ensure robust pathways and holistic care packages for service users. The successful candidate will undergo an enhanced DBS check and HMPPS security clearance.

Full Time Hours: 37.5 per week
Full Time Salary Range: £25,077.00 - £26,502.53
Contract: 12 month fixed term contract

Responsibilities
* Identify and pro-actively support access to a comprehensive range of resources to support recovery within the prison and community post-release.
* Engage with a multidisciplinary team, including safer custody and prison offender management.
* Identify and encourage service users to access family support where appropriate.
* Develop service questionnaires, recovery hubs and focus groups to drive innovation and motivation.
* Support the Mandatory Drug Testing pathway, ensuring the service is offered to those who need it and that harm reduction advice is discussed.
* Provide guidance and support to empower service users to make positive life choices and sustain progress.
* Offer administrative, clerical and general office support to prison teams to contribute to service aims and objectives.
* Advocate for individuals in a multi-agency setting where needed.
About you
* Good interpersonal skills and willingness to work flexibly as part of a team.
* Ability to respond to requests for assistance while maintaining confidentiality where necessary.
* Clear understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and boundaries.
* Knowledge of referral pathways for safeguarding concerns.
* Good organisational skills.
* Confident written and verbal communication.
* Ability to respond flexibly to the demands of the post and work independently when needed.
* Capacity to stay calm under pressure.
