Job Duties

This position is NOT telework eligible and would require the successful incumbent to come into the office.

This is an hourly/wage position and is not entitled to the Commonwealth of Virginia’s state benefits package. This position is limited to no more than 1500 hours in a 12-month period and averages no more than 29 hours a week.

The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS), Division of Local Training and Development in the Eastern Regional Office is currently seeking a Training Assistant. This position will be responsible for assisting the Division in supporting the delivery of human services program training for 120 local agencies and community partners and maintaining the appropriate regional training center(s). This position will support the System Data and Support Supervisor, the regional office staff, the trainers within the division and agency leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Knowledge and skill with a learning management system (LMS).
2. Strong customer service skills and demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service.
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex information verbally and in writing.
4. Ability to analyze training logistics problems and find creative solutions.
5. Ability to participate on teams at various levels within an organization.
6. Ability to positively engage all levels of an organization as well as external partners, including leadership.
7. Demonstrated ability to lead individuals and/or teams with executing tasks/projects composed of complex phases or steps.
8. Ability to work independently to solve problems, mitigate tasks, and organize resources for a specific result/outcome.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with the ability to input and export data from database software.

Additional Considerations

10. Experience working in a Learning Management System (LMS).
11. Experience in procuring goods and services for a public sector or educational entity.
12. Experience in registration operations in support of training programs.
13. Experience troubleshooting computers and software applications.
14. Experience in training center/facility management including training material management.
