Job Overview
The Older Adult Psychology Service provides therapeutic and psychological interventions for adults over 65 across Gwent, supporting mental health needs and concerns about cognitive decline. Our Assistant Psychologists play a key role in assessments and interventions, including neuropsychological assessments, and support the wider psychology team in audit and service development.
Much of our work is face-to-face across Gwent, requiring travel to support people at different bases or in their homes. Our team includes administrative support, assistant psychologists, arts therapists, a CAAP, and practitioner psychologists, liaising with multidisciplinary professionals.
This fixed-term/secondment position is for 24 months from the start date, requiring permission from your current line manager if applying as a secondment.
Main Duties
The service operates across all five Older Adult CMHTs and Memory Assessment Services in Gwent, providing high-quality, evidence-based psychological interventions. Responsibilities include delivering assessments, interventions, neuropsychological assessments, supporting data collection, reporting, and service improvement projects, with high supervision and support.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; applicants who speak English and/or Welsh are equally welcome.

Qualifications
Essential: Psychology degree with GBR.
Desirable: Post-graduate degree, training in psychological interventions (e.g., CBT, DBT).
Experience
Essential: Previous experience as an AP or Research Assistant.
Desirable: Experience delivering group interventions, psychological interventions, neuropsychological assessments, and reflecting on personal lived experience.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential: Basic word processing and statistical analysis skills.
