Assistant for MMO Application & Grant Funding * Type: Temporary, Part-Time (3-6 months, with potential extension) About South Coast Seaweed South Coast Seaweed is a pioneering start-up dedicated to sustainable aquaculture, launching a seaweed farm in Bracklesham Bay’s coastal waters. We aim to drive eco-friendly marine practices while supporting the local ecosystem and economy. We’re seeking a detail-oriented Assistant to support our Marine Management Organisation (MMO) licence application and secure grant funding for our project. The Role You will assist in preparing our MMO licence application and applying for grants to fund our seaweed farm in Bracklesham Bay. This role offers hands-on experience in marine licensing, grant writing, and sustainable aquaculture. Key Responsibilities * Compile data and documents for the MMO application (environmental, ecological, operational) * Research Bracklesham Bay marine regulations, environmental impacts, and stakeholder consultation needs * Draft and organise MMO application materials, ensuring compliance and timely submission * Identify and apply for grants from government, environmental, or aquaculture funding bodies * Write grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documents. * Coordinate with team, consultants, and stakeholders (e.g., local authorities, environmental groups) * Maintain accurate records and follow up on MMO or grant-related queries What We’re Looking For * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail * Excellent written and verbal communication for applications and stakeholder coordination * Interest or experience in grant writing or regulatory applications (training provided if needed) * Basic knowledge of marine environments or aquaculture is a plus * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Independent and collaborative work ethic * Passion for sustainability or marine conservation * Knowledge of Bracklesham Bay or West Sussex coast is a bonus Qualifications * Degree or equivalent in environmental science, marine biology, business administration, or related field preferred but not required * Experience in grant applications or administrative tasks is a plus What We Offer * Key role in a sustainable seaweed farming project * Flexible hours (15-25 hours/week, some remote work possible) * Experience in marine licensing and grant writing * Supportive team environment * Potential role extension based on project needs Join South Coast Seaweed to shape sustainable marine farming in Bracklesham Bay
