Finance Analyst

Whitaker Smith are exclusively working with an ambitious, growing financial services business looking to appoint a Finance Analyst in a newly created role. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem solving and getting under the skin of the numbers in a business that is actively acquiring, scaling and investing in its future.
This is not a narrow finance role. You will be working closely with the Finance Director across finance, MI, reconciliations, due diligence and commercial analysis. The business has completed a number of acquisitions in the last few years with multiple live due diligence processes underway and is continuing to grow, creating a genuine need for someone who can take ownership, bring structure and help free up senior finance capacity.
Role:
* Support the Finance Director with monthly management accounts, MI and KPI reporting
* Take ownership of key reconciliations across a high-volume client base
* Review financial information as part of acquisition due diligence processes
* Analyse seller information, bank statements, income data and supporting schedules to identify whether numbers reconcile and make commercial sense
* Help assess acquisition opportunities, including reviewing recurring income, AUM, deal values and payment structures
* Produce clear, accurate analysis to support decision making around acquisitions, funding and growth
* Work closely with junior members of the team, helping review and improve the quality of reporting and reconciliations
* Support improvements in finance processes, reporting, data quality and Excel-based analysis
* Get involved in modelling, covenants and funding analysis where appropriate
* Help create more structure around finance and MI as the business continues to scale
Experience:
* Experience in a finance, analyst, management accounts, audit or commercial finance role
* Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of data
* Excellent attention to detail — able to spot when something does not look right
* Comfortable working with incomplete/paper-based information and turning it into useful analysis
* Naturally curious and analytical, with a problem-solving mindset
* Able to take ownership and work in a fast-paced, growing business
* Experience in audit, accounts preparation, due diligence, financial services or acquisition-led businesses would be useful but is not essential
* Studying CIMA / ACCA, qualified by experience or coming from an audit / accounts background would all be considered
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants to be close to the action in a growing, acquisition-led business. You will get exposure to senior finance, acquisitions, funding, due diligence and commercial decision making, while also building strong foundations across management accounts, MI and analysis. For the right person, this could be a real stepping stone role with scope to take ownership, develop quickly and become a key part of the finance function as the business continues to grow
