Job Description
As the Project Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering of jobs awarded to the company, providing support and direction to discipline engineers, sourcing, and subcontractors to ensure deliverables comply with contractual specifications, applicable codes and standards. Your role will involve planning engineering tasks, collaborating with the project engineering team, and serving as the primary link between the Project Manager and discipline engineers for all engineering design documentation.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the technical interface with customers and suppliers, establishing professional relationships and participating in progressive project review meetings.
* Lead the assigned project and technical resources: verify conceptual design for basic engineering (P&ID, system architecture, layout, FDS, etc.), monitor and control assigned work scope against the project plan, ensure effective change control, and identify risks/opportunities.
* Design & specify electrical cabinets, systems, and equipment; review P&ID, wiring diagrams, commissioning manuals, and production procedures.
* Prepare and review RFQ packages, perform technical bid evaluation, and support commissioning/start‑up activities.
* Establish safe work practices and continuously improve the site safety culture; meet all health, safety, and environment KPIs.
* Ensure adherence to QMS and collaboration with Quality & Project Managers on engineering deliverables.
* Drive project deliveries to achieve productivity on cost/schedule and maintain project performance levels as defined by executive management.
* Apply lessons learned and best engineering practices from other projects, especially in custody metering skid fabrication.
Qualifications & Skills
* BS/BA degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics or equivalent; minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the process control industry.
* Strong knowledge of UK design approval processes (G17/PS6), primary measuring instruments (ultrasonic flowmeters, flow computers, gas chromatographs), secondary measuring instruments (pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters), PLC, SCADA, and flow & energy calculations.
* In-depth understanding of UK gas network specifications and applicable codes and standards.
* Proven leadership, solution‑oriented thinking, and ability to conduct complex problem analysis with solid solutions.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills; fluent in English.
