What's the Job About?
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to maintain the integrity of mechanical systems across our COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage terminals and pipeline systems. You’ll play a key role in ensuring operational safety, plant availability, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical systems, ensuring 98% plant availability.
* Lead and document planned maintenance schedules using the company’s asset management system.
* Respond to breakdowns, including participation in a 24/7 call-out rota.
* Conduct fault-finding on mechanical and EC&I systems within competency.
* Supervise and issue permits under BPA’s Permit to Work system.
* Support engineering projects from planning through execution.
* Engage with emergency services and statutory bodies during incidents.
* Source and manage suppliers for maintenance requirements.
What do we need from you:
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical discipline OR significant demonstrable mechanical experience.
* Practical understanding of Health & Safety in industrial environments.
* Experience in fault analysis, maintenance, and emergency response.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
* Comfortable working under pressure and outside of regular hours when required.
* Completed indentured mechanical apprenticeship.
* Previous experience in hazardous process industries (COMAH sites preferred).
Basic salary of £30,000 - £35,000 + standby allowance + company van + benefits
