Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary School)
Location: Preston
Contract: Flexible (potential to become permanent for the right candidate)
About the Role
As an SEN TA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of additional needs, including:
* Dyslexia
* Autism (ASD)
* Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
* Sensory impairments
* Physical disabilities
* Speech, language and communication difficulties
* Emotional or behavioural challenges
You will provide both 1:1 support and small group interventions, adapting your approach to meet individual learning and behavioural needs. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Support students in accessing the curriculum and developing key life skills
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
* Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored strategies
* Encourage independence, confidence, and progress in learning
* Manage behaviour effectively and promote positive choices
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEN (school-based experience preferred)
* Confident in behaviour management techniques
* Flexible, resilient, and adaptable to changing needs
* Patient, empathetic, and committed to student wellbeing
* Able to work both independently and as part of a team
