Protocol Education are currently recruiting an Autism Support Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEND provision near Peterlee. The school supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) alongside additional needs such as communication difficulties, learning delays and sensory processing differences. Pupils benefit from a highly supportive environment that focuses on predictable routines, personalised learning and strong relationships with staff. As part of the support team, you will help pupils access learning activities while also supporting their communication, emotional regulation and independence. Responsibilities within the role may include: • Supporting pupils with communication and interaction • Assisting teachers in delivering structured learning activities • Supporting pupils during transitions and daily routines • Encouraging pupils to build confidence and independence • Helping pupils regulate sensory or emotional needs The school is seeking candidates who are calm, patient and passionate about supporting children with additional needs. Applicants should ideally have a DBS registered on the Update Service. Candidates without one will be required to complete a DBS application through Protocol Education prior to starting work.
