This will be a truly varied role, supporting the People & Culture team, who work with a core team of 350 people, increasing to up to 550 during peak season. We also have around 50 regular volunteers and you will play a key role in increasing these numbers and developing our volunteering programme.
You will be involved with employee benefits, wellbeing, recruitment, training administration and will also work closely with the Head of HR to develop and grow our volunteering programme.
Previous experience in a recruitment, HR or Volunteer management role will be advantageous but most importantly you will be friendly and approachable, have a strong attention to detail and be highly organised to manage a varied workload.

Job family definition

Role purpose
Provides administrative support in all key areas of human resource (people) management, enabling Eden to recruit, retain and develop committed employees who have the skills and competencies to assist the organisation in achieving its stated mission. With a particular focus and responsibility on our volunteer programme coordination and the recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers.
Key accountabilities
1. Supports the Head of HR in managing our volunteering programme. This will include regular contact with our volunteers arranging opportunities for them to get together in person, responding to queries and liaising with department managers on volunteer recruitment and inductions.
2. Supports our People & Recruitment Officer with Eden's recruitment process. From writing and placing adverts through to point of offer. Ensuring that candidates have a positive experience of Eden regardless of whether they have been successful or not.
3. Support the Learning and Development team with training administration, including sending joining details for in person training, scheduling training on our Learning Management System and recording attendance on courses.
4. Regular liaison with the Payroll Specialist to ensure accuracy of staff pay and pay changes for payroll. Working with the People & Recruitment Officer to process sickness absence and ensure correct payments are applied.
5. Actively engages and interacts with employees answering questions, providing guidance in order to ensure an appropriate open and professional culture from within the team.
6. Assists the Head of HR with staff wellbeing and employee benefits initiatives. The role holder is the administrator of our Cash Plan with Simply Health.
Demands of the role
Education & qualifications Educated to A Level standard or equivalent. A Level 3 CIPD or Volunteer Management qualification would be desirable.
Knowledge & skills
The jobholder will have gained at least two years generalist HR or volunteer management experience where they will have acquired a broad-based knowledge of HR systems and procedures and the key areas of HR management, and/or an understanding of managing volunteers. They will be IT literate, numerate and with well-developed communication skills.
Decision- making
Working to short-term objectives, where the impact of judgements will be immediately obvious. Decisions are generally governed by existing policies and any complex decision making would be supported by a senior team member.
Resourcefulness
Reactive problem–solving is a routine feature of the role, where adaptive and creative solutions rely upon existing knowledge, skills and experience. Complex issues will be supported by a senior member of the team.
People & asset management
Shared responsibility for safeguarding the confidentiality of all sensitive information and for compliance with current Data protection requirements. No budget responsibility.
Communication & visitor experience
Uses an extensive range of communication and interpersonal skills, adapting the method to suit the needs to the audience or situation. Written and oral communications are integral to the successful delivery of this role as the jobholder is regularly required to conduct interviews; provide advice and guidance; promote best practice and respond to requests and enquires.
Operational environment
The role will be largely office based with some site-based work as required. Some at home working is possible following initial induction period.
