An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Licensing Officer to join the Licensing Team. As the successful post holder, you will undertake a wide range of duties across the Licensing Service. This includes taxi licensing and premises licensing (sale of alcohol and regulated entertainment), etc., you will be working closely with other teams within Preston City Council and external partners such as the Police, Immigration and Trading Standards.
Working within a team of Licensing Technicians and reporting to the Licensing Manager, the job involves processing various licences in connection with the sale and supply of alcohol, regulated entertainment, taxi services, gambling, and a wide range of other licensable activities.
Applicants should ideally have an ability to apply legal knowledge to resolve problems and a willingness to lead and undertake investigations and attend court / committee proceedings.
The role is fast paced, and the post holder is required to work well under pressure and able to meet strict deadlines. You should have good interpersonal and customer service skills and have experience in dealing with confrontational situations. You will have the opportunity to work in a diverse and developing environment where you can have an input into managing change successfully.
Good administrative skills and an ability to communicate effectively with the public are essential requirements. Suitable candidates must also be able to plan, organise and manage their own workloads, use time effectively and work with the minimum of supervision.
