Hours: 9 hours Rolling Rota Sunday to Friday, 5 hour shift and 4 hour shift 2 days a week, daytime and evening. (Some flexibility required, including occasional evening and overnight support once a relationship is established)
Rate of Pay: £12.00 per hour

We’re looking for an upbeat, compassionate, and reliable individual to support a young man with a learning disability and complex medical needs. He’s full of personality and loves a good laugh! He enjoys activities like bowling, watching planes, and spending time at the beach. He thrives with a buddy who’s fun, friendly, and up for a bit of banter, but who also knows how to set respectful, clear boundaries.
As his companion, you’ll receive full training to support his healthcare needs, including PEG feeding and moving and handling. You’ll help him explore activities he enjoys, monitor his safety, and adapt plans if he feels differently on a particular day. If you’re good at reading body language, have a strong sense of empathy, and enjoy connecting on a personal level, this role could be a perfect fit for you.
The family are animal lovers and have a cat and dog that are both very friendly. They also have fish.
What You’ll Do:
* Join him in activities that make his day fun and meaningful, whether that’s bowling, a beach day, or just relaxing together.
* Connect in with the local community, research groups and activities that the young man can attend with support.
* Provide PEG feeding – water, limited mobility so needs assistance with walking needs to take someone’s arm, support with personal care and other care needs (all training provided).
* Support with bathing, dressing, and changing clothing as required.
* Set clear boundaries while creating an atmosphere of trust, warmth, and humour.
* Monitor and adapt to his sensory needs, ensuring he’s comfortable and safe.
* Build a strong connection through shared activities and understanding, with flexibility in activities based on his comfort each day.
* Be a confident driver, with a full clean driving license, and willing to drive the employer’s car.
* Assist with attending medical, hair and dental appointments.
Qualifications:
* Warm, friendly, and able to set consistent boundaries.
* Observant and skilled in reading non-verbal cues.
* Patient and adaptable, with a good sense of humour.
* Experience with special needs is helpful, but full training will be provided.
