About the team and the role
The Product Technical & Compliance Coordinator will be working in the Product Technical and Compliance team and working closely with other stakeholders to ensure the compliance of products sold on the webshop across the own brand and branded products. This role is essential in helping manage our due diligence as well as supporting other projects within the wider team.
Role may involve ‘On-Call’ rota after successful probation sign off, which would include being on call in the evening and weekend on a rotational basis of 8-10 weeks.
What you’ll do
1. Non-Conforming Stock Management - coordinating and issuing product recalls and/or withdrawal notifications via automated systems. Liaising with suppliers and Customer Fulfilment Centres on food safety, legality, or poor quality stock to mitigate risk and support complaint reduction.
2. Escalation Coordinator - collaborate internally and externally, representing Ocado Retail’s Technical & Compliance team in response to Environmental Health, Trading Standards and other Governmental agencies.
3. Supplier Approval & Management - working closely with the Commercial team to validate supplier accreditations and product set-up categorisation according to Ocado Retail’s policies.
4. Customer Complaints & Refunds - working closely with the Customer Hub and the Product Technical Managers to investigate and close out escalated customer complaints, along with managing the system that is used to track, trend and recharge refunds to suppliers.
5. Governance KPI Reporting - collating and reporting KPIs periodically, identifying trends and potential follow-up based on findings.
6. Cross-Departmental Projects - be involved in Ocado initiatives and projects such as supporting charitable donations, sustainability, etc.
On Call - following training, be part of the on-call rota for out-of-hours incidents (every 6-8 weeks).

Who you are
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams

10. Proficient in using web-based systems, specification systems, project management tools, etc
11. Highly organised and self-motivated

Preferred Experience (in addition to minimum)
16. Some compliance experience within the food industry
17. Manufacturing and retail experience
18. Professional certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, BRCGS) is desirable
