Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Technician to join DP World at our Coleshill facility in Birmingham. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for first‑line support of all IT hardware across the site for both DP World and customer equipment.
Please note, this role is on a rotational shift pattern. Below are the weekly shifts.
* Week 1: 07:00‑15:00
* Week 2: 10:00‑18:00
* Week 3: 13:00‑23:00
How You Will Contribute
* Provide first‑line support for all IT hardware across the site for both DP World and customer equipment, liaising with third‑party support groups where required.
* Deliver general desktop application support, including installation, configuration, and end‑user assistance for service requests.
* Configure, maintain, and manage production system data, supporting inputs and outputs that assist operational systems such as business intelligence tools, dashboards, and bespoke local systems.
* Manage and execute IT support tickets daily, both internally and externally where applicable.
* Maintain accurate records of all on‑site assets, including updates to site records and the centralised CMDB.
* Create and maintain user documentation, including IT knowledge base articles, user guides, single‑point lessons, and production documentation.
* Develop and deliver IT training to address identified knowledge gaps (e.g. common desktop application queries).
* Follow up on production issues and assist with root cause analysis and long‑term corrective actions.
* Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements or process changes influenced by IT systems.
* Build long‑term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers.
What Will You Bring
* A solid understanding of IT fundamentals, typically gained through college‑level study or relevant professional experience.
* Strong knowledge of common desktop applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) and a good understanding of operating systems.
* Experience supporting hardware such as desktops, laptops, and peripherals, including troubleshooting, driver installation, and break/fix tasks.
* Good knowledge of desktop operating systems (Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 11) and exposure to basic enterprise administration activities.
* Experience with production ERP, MRP, or WMS systems is advantageous.
