The Software Test Team Leader will continue to perform hands-on testing duties while dedicating approximately 15% of their time to line management responsibilities for Software Test Engineers. They combine technical delivery with leadership and team development, ensuring that testing standards are maintained while supporting the team's growth and well-being.
What you'll be handling:
Manage and support Software and Senior Software Test Engineers through effective line management practices
Conduct annual Performance Development Interviews and set clear objectives for each team member
Hold regular one-to-one meetings to monitor progress against objectives and address any personal or work-related concerns
Identify training needs within the team and propose development plans to the Software Test Manager
Approve annual leave requests and manage sickness and absence in line with company policy
Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skills and support career progression
Deliver all testing activities and outputs as outlined in the Software Test Engineer and Senior Software Test Engineer job specifications
Provide temporary cover or additional support for the Software Test Manager when required
What you'll need:
Required
Demonstrated ability to manage and support team members effectively, including conducting regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews
Proven ability to manage tasks and time effectively to meet agreed deadlines
Ability to work independently and provide guidance to others when required
Experience delivering work to tight timescales without compromising quality
In-depth knowledge of TGW Test Team processes, tools, and applications
Previous experience as a Software or Senior Software Test Engineer within the Department
Preferred
Familiarity with TGW HR processes and policies, including absence management and annual leave approval
Understanding of the TGW Performance Development process and its application in setting objectives and reviewing performance
Experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring team members to support career development
