Trust Grade Doctor ST3+ Emergency Medicine

The closing date is 22 May 2026

We are Recruiting for TG ST3+ to cover potential gaps in our training programme in Emergency Medicine. The posts are full time for a fixed term of 6 months with potential for extension. The posts cross‑site covering both York and Scarborough Hospitals.

Though the posts are not part of the formal training programme, we endeavour to offer post holders the same training and educational opportunities as colleagues in training, including paid study leave. You will be provided with clinical and educational supervision to enable your personal and portfolio development. There is an active Postgraduate Medical Education Centre on both sites as part of a dynamic Education and Training directorate developing multi‑professional training.

Estimated start date is for August Changeover, alternative dates can be discussed at interview.

In submitting your application to this vacancy you acknowledge that posts are not guaranteed and are subject to gaps in our Training Programme.

NB. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants. Therefore, please apply early to avoid any disappointment.

Main duties of the job

Whilst these posts are not a recognised NHS/UK training post, we endeavour to provide our Trust Grade Doctors with equivalent opportunities in terms of development and training, receiving the following:

* Named clinical supervisor
* Local induction and information pack outlining internal training courses/opportunities available to doctors in these non‑approved training positions
* Individual Personal Development Plan and annual appraisal – Individual access to the NHS e‑appraisal system funded by the Trust for posts that are six months or longer
* Funding and paid time available for study leave (£500 per annum)
* Support towards obtaining Alternative Certificate confirming achievement of foundation competencies, to aid those who want to access a recognised training position in the future

The successful candidates will join clinical teams who offer a supportive and encouraging environment which will allow progression as a professional through development opportunities in specialist fields as well as their area of particular interest. There will also be an expectation that the post holder will take an active part in both internal and external audits. The post will be based in one clinical specialty but may rotate to more than one area if that is of mutually agreed benefit.
