Expert Lead Cardiac Physiologist in Echocardiography (Oncology Services)
This post will support services for The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and will be based at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester. The department is seeking a highly experienced cardiac physiologist to help lead echocardiography services, particularly for oncology patients. The applicant must currently be working as an expert independent clinical practitioner who provides clinical expertise at an expert specialist level. Candidates will be required to assist the departmental management team in providing strategic management leadership. The applicant must have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality diagnostic service and educational at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Job Details
Job Ref: 349-WTWA-7863707-RL4. Location: Wythenshawe Hospital, Town Wythenshawe. Salary: £57,528 - £64,750 per annum (pro rata). Contract: Permanent, cross‑site working, 7 day working hours, Full time - 37.5 hours per week.
Main Duties
* Provide leadership and development for all practitioners in the Clinical Physiology department within the Cardiac Diagnostic Centre.
* Provide advice to external institutions, including primary care and all professional bodies within Cardiology.
* Exercise initiative and judgement in solving problems and making decisions that affect own areas of work, recognising when there is a need to refer problems to Senior Management or Consultant staff.
* Independently collate complex clinical information from multiple sources to determine optimal procedure methodology.
* Independently select, set‑up and operate complex medical equipment as indicated for each procedure.
* Independently obtain analyses of complex data, perform complex calculations, determine interpretation and independently compile accurate written complex technical reports for case notes.
* Communicate independent interpretations of complex technical and physiological data to guide physicians throughout high‑risk provocative procedures.
* Regularly supervise individuals working or observing in the clinical environment, including visitors from other trusts and organisations.
Qualifications
* BSc Clinical Cardiac Physiology / BSc in Healthcare Science cardiology or qualifying equivalent qualification.
* MSc or equivalent expertise at this level.
* Teaching qualification (T4T, D32).
Experience
* Echocardiography experience at Band 7 Advanced specialist level post basic experience in technical cardiology.
* Experience of managing a cardiology department or an area of cardiology in a large tertiary centre including organisational and personal management.
* Practical & formal teaching of Cardiac Physiologists and other HCSs.
* Organisation/provision of education/training courses at a regional level.
* Multi‑disciplinary team work.
* Tertiary cardiac physiology practice.
* Invasive cardiac physiology practice.
* Participation in cardiac research.
Knowledge
* High level knowledge of a wide range of cardiac physiology diagnostics and interventions.
* Understands the role of cardiac physiology within the NHS.
* Understands the organisation of the NHS.
* Recognises the implications of the NSFs, NICE, Occupational standards and other applicable NHS directives.
* Expert specialist knowledge of Cardiac Imaging.
* Knowledge of a wide range of tertiary diagnostics and interventions.
* Knowledge of Electronic Staff Register.
