Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, inquisitive, and thorough Senior Geophysicist to lead and manage complex geophysical projects.
Responsibilities
* Technical Leadership: Lead design and planning of geophysical surveys, provide input on complex technical solutions, oversee application of advanced techniques.
* Fieldwork Oversight: Oversee data quality, conduct site visits, support field teams, lead demanding fieldwork when necessary.
* Advanced Data Analysis: Drive processing, interpretation, and reporting, review outputs, deliver data‑driven insights to clients and teams.
* Quality and Innovation: Maintain high standards of quality assurance, deliver projects on time and within budget, incorporate innovative techniques.
* Cross‑Sector Expertise: Lead projects across core departments: transport infrastructure, engineering/geotechnical, geological/environmental geophysical, unexploded ordnance detection, utility service detection.
* Mentorship and Development: Mentor junior staff, provide technical guidance, develop team skills.
* Occasional Fieldwork: Predominantly office‑based, may undertake occasional fieldwork in the UK or abroad.
Requirements
* Academic Qualifications: Post‑graduate degree in geophysics or related field.
* Experience: At least 7 years of hands‑on experience in high‑resolution, near‑surface geophysical investigations, proven track record managing large‑scale projects.
* Technical Expertise: Proficiency in methods: Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetics (EM), Magnetometry, Microgravity, Electrical methods, Seismic methods.
* Software Proficiency: Expertise in geophysical data processing software (Oasis Montaj, GeoGiga, SurfSeis, Res2Dinv, Zonde, Aarhus Workbench, etc.), coding in Python, GIS tools (AutoCAD, Microstation, ArcGIS, QGIS).
* Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership, excellent written and verbal communication, ability to present findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Strategic Thinking: Forward‑thinking, identify innovation opportunities, drive R&D within geophysics.
Must already have the right to work in the UK; we do not sponsor visas.
