Thank you for considering a career at St Joseph’s. Our school’s mission is to enable all students to live life to the full, underpinned by our FLAME values: Faith, Learning, Attitude, Mutual Respect, and Enrichment. These core values foster a vibrant community where everyone strives to embody them.
St Joseph’s, graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2022 and Outstanding by the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle in 2019, caters to students aged 11–18 from South Tyneside and East Gateshead, primarily Hebburn and Jarrow, with some travelling from further afield.
As part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, which includes five secondary and twenty-five primary schools across South Tyneside, Sunderland, and East Durham, our staff benefit from collaborative opportunities, professional development, and a supportive network.
The Role
We are seeking a Teacher of Science to join our experienced and supportive Science Department on a permanent basis due to increasing student numbers. This role is suitable for an Early Career Teacher looking to develop their pedagogical skills or an experienced teacher aiming to further inspire our students in Science.
The role includes a pastoral component, supporting student wellbeing, working as a form tutor, overseeing tutor time activities, and delivering the PSHE curriculum. Experience in Physics or Health & Social Care teaching would be advantageous but is not essential.
Joining us offers the chance to grow within a passionate, forward-thinking school community, supported by colleagues and working in a modern environment, with facilities refurbished since 2010 and some original 1950s structures.
We encourage visits to learn more about our vision and values. To attract and retain talented staff, we offer benefits such as free on-site parking, access to fitness facilities, professional training (including NPQ), a supportive work/life balance, and a comprehensive induction program.
Applications are welcomed from Catholic and non-Catholic teachers supportive of the school’s ethos. For more information or to arrange a visit, contact Mrs V Henry, School Business Manager, at VHenry@stjosephs.uk.net.
