Role Overview
Provide leadership in project management for the delivery of capital projects such as hospital campus developments or primary care programmes under a framework procurement such as hub, e.g. the development of Royal Edinburgh Campus, Western General Hospital or East Lothian Community Hospital.
Significant planning, organisation and coordination are required to deliver the capital strategy for NHS Lothian and the Integration Joint Boards. Projects span years from initial agreement to completion, with significant changes during development; long‑term planning projections must be considered and, where appropriate, influenced.
Managing all aspects of projects, from business case development, specification of client requirements and technical standards, design, town planning, on to procurement and construction, and finally into the operational phase, ensuring they are delivered within the scope agreed by the Project Board and NHS Lothian.
Responsibilities
* Lead project management for large capital initiatives.
* Plan, organise and coordinate capital strategy delivery for NHS Lothian and Integration Joint Boards.
* Develop business cases and specify client requirements and technical standards.
* Oversee design, town planning, procurement and construction phases.
* Ensure projects are delivered within agreed scope, time and budget.
* Engage with the Project Board and stakeholders to maintain alignment and progress.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Proven experience in project management of large capital projects in healthcare or similar.
* Strong planning, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
* Knowledge of procurement processes and construction management.
* Requirement to hold a PVG Scheme membership/record; if not, must apply to Disclosure Scotland and be deemed satisfactory before appointment.
* Compliance with any legislative changes to PVG requirements effective 1 April 2025.

To work in the United Kingdom, individuals must demonstrate the relevant permission to work. This permission is granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service and must be verified by NHS Scotland Boards.
