Overview
The Department of Academic Development and Student Learning (ADSL) aims to drive and support an enhanced GCU student learning experience through providing leadership and guidance, shaping strategy policy and practice, and by working in partnership with Schools, Professional Services and the Student Association. The Department also supports the University's Common Good mission through its commitment to learning and teaching excellence, technology enhanced learning, educational scholarship, widening participation and public engagement.
Responsibilities
The main purpose of this role is to advise, train, and support staff in the adoption and effective use of Blackboard Ultra and associated learning technologies. The successful candidate will provide professional and practical support to academic staff, develop and deliver training programmes, and work collaboratively to ensure the effective use of digital learning systems at GCU.
* A good working knowledge of Blackboard Learn Ultra, current learning, teaching and assessment technologies, software and VLEs.
* Experience of working collaboratively with staff in developing and implementing digital learning, teaching and assessment resources
* Experience of developing digital learning and teaching resources using a variety of media for a college or university audience.
* Experience of developing and delivering training materials in the development and use of digital technologies in a variety of flexible formats to suit in-person, online and hybrid scenarios.
* Experience of working with others to define and design best possible solutions using digital technologies for teaching, learning and assessment.
* Confidence using a range of ICT devices, applications, software and digital capture devices
* Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills to interact with academic staff in a support environment
* Confidence in delivering training programmes to staff in the use of learning technologies
* Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
Qualifications
As listed in the responsibilities above, the candidate will have demonstrated experience with Blackboard Ultra, digital learning resources, and the ability to train staff in learning technologies. Strong communication and organisational skills are required.
