We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse who enjoys working in a small, friendly Practice, overlooking the Exe Estuary with a short walk to the beach at lunchtime.
This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse with strong clinical skills who thrives in a collaborative primary care environment.
Hours are flexible and negotiable for the right candidate. Full time or part time.
The role is starting in early July.
Main duties of the job
* Assist in and perform routine and urgent tasks and procedures related to patient care as directed by GPs
* Ensure accurate and contemporaneous documentation of all consultations and treatments associated with patient healthcare
* Cytology
* Removal of Sutures
* Health checks - Obtaining appropriate information using a motivational interviewing approach and delivering health promotion. Working with patients to ensure ongoing good management of their condition/s
* Urinalysis
* Venepuncture
* Undertake the collection, storage and despatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc and adhere to infection control policies.
* ECGs
* Adult immunisations / Childhood immunisations / Travel immunisations
* Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
* Contraception
* Asthma / Peak Flow Readings
* Diabetes management
* Coronary Heart Disease Reviews- Checking compliance with and adherence to appropriate treatments using a holistic patient-centred approach.
* Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development.
* Work within limitations of clinical experience and training and seek support, learning or advice from the team as appropriate where gaps in knowledge or training present.
