The University of York is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow (Assistant Director RSS) to join the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Support Service (RSS) Hub based at the University of York. The NIHR RSS provides advice and support to researchers in England developing applications to national, peer-reviewed research programmes and at other stages in the research pathway. Support is delivered nationally by eight Hubs and by Specialist Centres for Public Health and Social Care.

Role
We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Director (Senior Research Fellow) to work closely with the RSS Hub Co-Directors and Programme Manager in implementing the Hub’s strategic and operational plans, leading innovation in delivery and working collaboratively with other RSS Hubs through the RSS National Collaborative. The role also provides an outstanding opportunity to develop your own portfolio of research alongside contributing to RSS.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

1. PhD in an area relevant to applied health research or relevant MSc and equivalent experience
2. Expert knowledge in at least one methodological area relevant to applied health and social care research
3. Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies
4. Knowledge of inclusive approaches to research
5. Expert knowledge of UK funding landscape for health, public health and social care, funder expectations and current national research priorities
6. Significant track record of delivering research in the field of health, social care or public health
7. Track record in incorporating patient and public involvement in research and in inclusive approaches in research
8. Experience of delivering sustained and consistent, publicly verifiable, research output of high quality with evidence of impact and esteem
9. Proven experience of attracting and obtaining significant external research funding

Salary: £57,422 to £66,537 per year (Grade 6)
