Job Description

Mae’r ddogfen hon ar gael yn Gymraeg / This document is also available in Welsh.

Location: Children's Residential Care Homes across RCT

Do you have what it takes to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people?

Are you a hardworking and resilient individual capable of engaging with and emotionally supporting children and young people?

We are actively seeking individuals to join our dedicated teams in our Children's Residential Care Homes. Locations include: Beddau, Bryndar, Carn Ingli, Ty Brynna, Ty Ni, Willowford House, Ystradfechan, and Cartref Mynydd.

As a Casual Residential Child Care Practitioner, you will be part of a caring team providing a safe, nurturing home environment led by an experienced Registered Manager and senior staff. You will work with children with complex needs and those who have experienced childhood trauma, utilizing a therapeutic approach based on the Trauma Recovery Model of care.

Your role involves supporting individuals through their personal experiences to aid recovery and resilience, helping them achieve their personal goals. This includes providing emotional, physical, and personal care, working actively with families and professionals to ensure personalized care and positive transitions from placement.

To succeed, you must be passionate, patient, and committed, demonstrating excellent communication skills, positivity, resilience, compassion, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships. Flexibility in work hours is also essential.

Shifts typically run from 7.30am – 3.30pm and 3pm -11pm, including bank holidays and weekends, with occasional sleep-ins and nights. You may work at different residential locations as needed.

You will need to hold or work towards the QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or NVQ Level 3, and be registered with Social Care Wales.

Our Offer:

We provide comprehensive training and professional development, including funding for qualifications if needed, and a range of staff benefits such as annual leave, cycle schemes, discounts, and wellbeing support.

For more information about our services, visit our Children’s Services webpage.

If interested, contact the respective homes or the Residential Development Manager for an informal chat or further details.

Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility, and the role includes safeguarding responsibilities and an enhanced disclosure check. We value diversity and are committed to equality in our recruitment process.

Applications in Welsh are equally considered. If you do not hear within four weeks, your application was unsuccessful. We support Armed Forces applicants and ensure equal opportunities for all.
