Court of Protection Paralegal – Health & Welfare Location: Leeds City Centre (Hybrid) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Hours: Full-time A leading national law firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join their Health & Welfare Court of Protection team in Leeds City Centre. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a highly regarded and supportive department, working alongside experienced solicitors on complex and rewarding matters. Key Responsibilities: * Supporting solicitors with Court of Protection cases, primarily within the health and welfare remit. * Assisting with matters relating to Mental Capacity, including best interests decisions and challenges to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). * Preparing legal documents and bundles for hearings. * Liaising with clients, counsel, experts, and other third parties. * Conducting legal research and drafting correspondence. * Managing and progressing your own caseload under supervision. * Ensuring compliance with legal aid procedures, including funding applications and cost management. Requirements: * Previous experience as a paralegal, ideally within Court of Protection or public law. * Solid understanding of Legal Aid processes and experience working on legally aided matters. * Familiarity with deputyship applications, mental capacity law, and/or safeguarding matters is desirable. * Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * A genuine interest in health and welfare law, and supporting vulnerable individuals
