We are looking for a responsible, patient, and caring person to support and assist a 16-year-old with severe learning difficulties. The candidate will develop and extend the individual's extracurricular interests and promote positive social behaviour. The role will develop a weekly programme of activities with the young person to ensure routine and structure in daily life and will include driving and transporting the individual to activities and classes. Welsh speaking is essential.
Main Duties
* Assist them to complete activities of interest independent of their family such as swimming, horse‑riding, gaming, trips out or other stimulating activities as they arise.
* Provide a level of social stimulation and engage with the service user to explore the community.
* Always ensure the safety of the client whilst on duty.
* Carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make from time to time.
Personal Specification
This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of an individual employer. You will be employed by that individual and not Ceredigion County Council. This appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will incur no cost to the applicant. If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. The post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months. Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement. You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement and all statutory entitlements. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences. You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
