We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents, specialist tertiary care for cardiac and haematology services, community health services to more than 445,000 residents, and the National Artificial Eye Service across England. Job Overview
This new position has been created to play a major role in the delivery of diabetes and endocrine services, with a focus on expanding inpatient diabetes, diabetes technology, and endocrine services. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop a diabetes renal service, alongside multidisciplinary adrenal and pituitary services in liaison with Manchester and Preston.
Responsibilities
* Inpatient diabetes & endocrinology care
* Outpatient clinics
* Acute medical take‑on call commitments
* Manage a clinically effective and financially responsible service together with colleagues
* Participate in clinical audit, service evaluation and clinical governance
* Evaluate patient outcomes and respond to findings with appropriate service changes
* Support medical trainees and other service members with continuing educational needs and personal development
* Participate in annual appraisal in line with GMC regulations
* Encourage and support research on clinical or service issues related to diabetes and endocrinology

If the role requires a DBS check, the Trust will administer this as part of pre‑employment checks. Costs will be recovered via salary deduction. Fees are: Basic DBS £25.50, Standard DBS £25.50, Enhanced DBS £53.50. Applicants may register for the DBS update service (annual fee £16) to avoid repeated disclosures. DBS checks remain free for volunteer positions.
