Job Description
Greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a hands-on Finance Manager is required to lead the day-to-day running of the finance function within a growing SME. This role will focus on financial control, managing a small team, and delivering accurate and timely reporting.
Duties of the role will include:
* Oversee daily finance operations (AP, AR, payroll, cash management)
* Own the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations
* Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
* Maintain strong financial controls and balance sheet integrity
* Manage cash flow and short-term forecasting
* Lead, mentor, and review the work of a small finance team
* Ensure compliance with VAT, statutory reporting, and audit requirements
* Liaise with external auditors and advisors
* Identify and implement process improvements
Skills, Requirements, Qualifications
* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
* Proven experience in a hands-on SME finance role
* Experience in commodities or stock-driven environments preferred
* Strong month-end and financial control experience
* Prior team management or supervisory experience
* Good Excel and systems skills
* Hands-on, organised, and detail-focused
* Strong sense of ownership and accountability
* Able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Practical and solutions-oriented
