Key Duties

* Collaborate with academic colleagues to understand their requirements for placements and projects and agree processes for implementation and delivery.
* Undertake business development activities to source new employer partners and proactively manage relationships with existing employers, identifying ways to grow opportunities for students.
* Provide professional advice on processes and procedures related to placements and projects to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood.
* Proactively promote placement and project opportunities to students in the Business School via a range of in-person and online channels such as lecture talks, newsletters and LinkedIn.
* Liaise with internal and external professional services departments to ensure provision meets the needs of the School and wider institution

* Engage and collaborate with the central Student Futures team, supporting with various events and projects as appropriate.

* Ensure that the provision of placements and projects is delivered to the School, changing the delivery model based on the needs of the School, Student Futures and University.

* Proactively identify opportunities to enhance existing processes and procedures in order to continuously improve our service provision
* Stay up to date with the latest news, developments and trends related to placements and projects in Higher Education, feeding back your findings to the team and wider Placements Network.

Specific Duties

* Manage incoming email queries from internal and external customers.
* Coordinate and host events such as Pre-placement Briefings, Welcome Back events and Placement Drop-Ins.
* Collate data on placements and projects for use in promotional activities and reporting
* Review and approve placements and support students in placement via visits and regular communications.
* Identify new placement opportunities and act as a lead contact for certain employers.
* Create promotional material for a range of stakeholders advertising opportunities and selling the benefits of placements and projects.

General Duties

* Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties.
* Abide by University policies on Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity.
* Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.
* Due to a small number of events taking place in the evening and on a Saturday, the postholder will be required to work outside of core hours on some occasions.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and Education

1. Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent Professional membership/experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

2. Substantial experience of working within higher education, recruitment or work experience.

3. Able to demonstrate professional knowledge of business education and/or placements to give advice and guidance to internal and external customers.

4. Ability to set up standard office systems and procedures and make improvements as appropriate.

Customer Service, Communication and Team Working

5. Ability to communicate conceptually detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people.

6. Evidence of ability to explore customers' needs and adapt the service accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered.

7. Ability to make presentations and undertake business networking with a wide range of employers.

Planning, Analysis and Problem solving

8. Evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identifying and proposing practical solutions and resolving problems with range of potential outcomes.

9. Evidence of ability to work unsupervised to targets and deadlines, planning and setting priorities for own work and that of others and monitoring progress.

Other

10. A willingness to undertake further training and development.

1. Postgraduate/Professional qualification
2. Experience of working in a Higher Education environment
3. Fluency in Welsh, written and oral
