Job Description
As a Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) Engineer, you will be supporting the supportability MTA activity for complex maritime systems, specifically UK Defence submarines. You will work as part of an extended team for the customer to ensure that the submarine's systems can be maintained efficiently, safely, and with the correct resources. You will be working across several stakeholders and functions, taking raw engineering data and transforming it into the structured maintenance logic that will feed S1000D Technical Publications and Spares Provisioning teams.
Key Responsibilities
Risk: Escalation and recording of Risks to ensure mitigating actions are captured in the ILS Risk Register.
Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA): Conduct detailed "Bottom-Up" analysis of systems to define every preventative and corrective maintenance task required.
Task Step Breakdown: Develop logical, step-by-step procedures for the removal, installation, and repair of components to enable the production of Maintenance Task Instructions (MTI) outputs.
Personnel & Skill Mapping: Determine the number of tradesmen, trade specialisms (e.g., ME, WE) and man-hours required for each task to inform the Navy's manpower requirements.
LSA Record (LSAR) Management: Populating and maintaining the project's LSA database to ensure "Data Integrity" across the ILS suite.
Safety & Hazard Identification: Identifying "Safety Critical" steps within maintenance tasks to ensure the Technical Authors can apply the correct Warnings and Cautions.
Work Experience
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or Level 3 Engineering qualification in Engineering or related discipline.
Standards: Deep understanding of Def Stan and S3000L (Logistics Support Analysis).
Experience and background: Proven and demonstratable experience in engineering supportability roles within a MoD environment.
Software: Hands-on experience with LSA software such as Eagle.
Have worked in highly regulated product orientated industry (e.g., aerospace, nuclear, maritime, oil and gas etc.)
Desirable Attributes
Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Have worked in or with UK Defence, specifically with Submarine or surface fleet experience.
Familiarity with Def Stan ILS) and Def Stan 00-40/42 (AR&M).
